AYSO's Mission since 1964 has been to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives.
For 60 years the program has enriched countless lives developing a love and a passion of the beautiful game. Whether you're a 4 year old simply trying out a new sport and making new friends, or you are Alex Morgan playing for the San Diego Wave and winning World Cups and Olympic Medals with the U.S. Women's National Team, AYSO has a place for you and wants to be a part of the player's journey.
Our player development pathway begins with the philosophy that EVERYONE PLAYS. Our programs are designed to introduce families and children to the physical movements and fine motor skills to play soccer. When we say EVERYONE PLAYS, we mean everyone. Even if child has special needs, we have our EPIC Program (Everyone Plays In our Community). Check out our Programs tab to find out more information regarding our E.P.I.C program.
Our Programs are designed for players of all age ranges. Our AYSO Core program is designed around fun and learning, run by a tremendous volunteer base who allow our players to play in a low-pressure environment while developing their skills and understanding of the game. The program is divided into age based divisions determined by your players birth year.
For players that seek a more competitive / higher talent level in the youth system is our AYSO United Club Program, where the top players are exposed to the challenges and competition of club soccer. In this environment, the players work with high level professional and volunteer coaches and play in the SoCal soccer leagues and compete against other youth club organizations. The AYSO United program builds on the foundations of all our AYSO Programs, ensuring that the players selected are in the appropriate environment to enhance their skill level and competence in the game of soccer. The program is based on number of players and skill levels within the player pool and are broken into the following levels:
Flight 3 - These are novice level teams and players typically in their first or second year of competitive club soccer
Flight 2 - These are premier level teams and players typically more technically skilled and high level of competition in club soccer.
Flight 1 - These are elite level teams and players typically at a high talent level, very technically skilled and ultra level of competition in club soccer.
NPL - These are National level teams and players travel to play other high talent, very skilled teams from across the United States.
Within SoCal Soccer they have a Player Development Program that provides an opportunity for the best of the best players at Flight 1 and NPL level teams to be selected into an elite program of the top players from Southern California. If your player is selected into the SoCal PDP the player would have opportunity to be selected for a State team of the top 15 players in all of Southern California and play against other State teams from across the United States as well as internationally against international youth teams. This is where we find the next Alex Morgan or Landon Donovan.
The objective of the Player Development Pathway is to allow any player and family the opportunity to excel and reach their potential through their exposure to AYSO and the philosophies our organization has been built on.
Thank you for being part of the family.
